Archer’s Comics is a comic book store located in Cornwall’s capital, Truro.

My Story

In 2001 a very special film was released, Spider-Man. The first time I saw Spider-Man it completely changed my life. It opened my eyes to a world of costumed heroes. With each subsequent film that would release I would eat it up. Hulk hands for Christmas will always be one of my favourite presents.

I would read plenty of graphic novels that people would buy me as presents but access to comics in Cornwall in the 2000s wasn’t easy or obvious. I started collecting comics in 2012 when a shop opened in my hometown of St Austell. The comic shop always felt like a place I belonged. Lots of my free time would be spent discussing comics with there staff and other customers and I began helping out with odd jobs in the store. This started the beginning of my experience in the industry. 

A second store opened in St Austell and Wendy of Into The Realm became a mentor to me. Helping out in this store is where I really began to flourish. I would help with deliveries and organising customers orders. I would work closely with Wendy for a couple of years.

In 2018 I was offered to come and run the e-commerce for Bazbo Comics. Within 6 months I was the store manager. Here I built a reputation as someone with great product knowledge and strong reliability when it came to customer orders. Over the next 4 years through difficult years we built something really special with a fantastic customer base. Unfortunately, due to the knock on effects of COVID and the costs of living crisis, we were forced to close in early 2023.

Now after a couple of years working bland retail and bar jobs I am ready to take the next step and open up my first comic book store, Archer’s Comics.

Our Ethos

I want Archer’s Comics to be a community. A group of like minded individuals all shopping for items they love and can share with others. 
Archer’s Comics will be an inclusive space, your background is not important when you step through the door. We are accepting of all peoples. The comic book industry, while not always getting it right, has often been a socially progressive medium. It has explored characters from all origins, whether that be race, religion, gender and sexuality. I want to represent this too. Stocking products from a diverse pool of creators, to allow anyone who walks through the door to feel seen and accepted. All we ask is when you come into the shop you are also respectful of all of our customers. 
I plan to organise events where people we can all come together and enjoy the medium we all love so much.
